This is something we’ve considered. However, it requires a significant investment, so we’re carefully evaluating all options to ensure we do it correctly if we move forward with implementation.
We stopped offering door jamb wipe down before COVID, not because of it.
The primary reason was employee safety. Despite multiple attempts to improve the process, we experienced several situations where customers pulled away before employees had finished the door jambs. Thankfully, no serious injuries occurred, but there were enough close calls, bruised toes, wrists, and arms that we ultimately decided the risk wasn’t worth it.
While it wasn’t an easy decision, it was the right one. Given today’s traffic volume and labor challenges, bringing the service back would be difficult without negatively impacting efficiency and safety.
We intentionally use a lower-pressure application rather than high pressure.
While both methods have advantages, our primary concern is minimizing the risk of forcing water into critical areas, especially with the increasing number of electronic components found in modern vehicles.
Although you won’t necessarily feel the impact that a high-pressure system provides, we believe our process effectively rinses the chassis and unlike many competitors, also has a second application that applies protection to help reduce rust and corrosion. It’s designed for rinsing and protecting, not removing heavy mud or debris buildup.
We no longer use soap during the pre-wash stage based on our evaluation of overall results.
What we found was that employees often focused more on applying soap than using the high-pressure rinse where it mattered most, breaking up stubborn dirt and reaching hard-to-clean areas.
Think of it like rinsing a dirty dish before putting it in the dishwasher. Not every vehicle needs the same level of pre-wash treatment, especially our unlimited wash members who was frequently, but the targeted pressure helps prepare areas of the vehicle for a better overall wash.
We do our best to balance these complimentary extras with product availability and rising supply costs.
When we first started to offer them, we provided them freely to everyone, but demand became so high that many were being stockpiled, which defeated the purpose. While distribution methods may change from time to time, if you ever need a dash wipe or air freshener, simply ask a team member and we will do our best to accommodate based on supply.
n the past, we tested bug-removal products during the pre-wash process. Unfortunately, the added time and cost didn’t produce results that justified the investment. Similar to adding soap to the pre-wash, employees often focused on applying product rather than using pressure to loosen debris.
As we evaluated alternatives, we noticed that many brand-new, multimillion-dollar friction car washes were installing similar self-serve bug prep and tire prep stations despite having larger tunnels and significantly more equipment.
The reason is simple: bugs are stubborn. Even a short amount of time baking in the sun can make them extremely difficult to remove.
While we believe our process is highly effective, we know some customers want extra attention in these areas. That’s why we added our optional Bug & Tire Prep stations. The feedback has been excellent, and after hearing your suggestions, we also relocated them to minimize impact on customers who choose not to use them.
Please note our team appreciates it, but doesn’t expect it. For those who have asked about a digital tipping option because they don’t typically carry cash, we have a couple of options, add a tip to your transaction when redeeming a membership wash or purchasing a single wash, just let one of team member know at that time.
We also now offer a mobile-friendly digital tipping option that will allow customers to tip directly from their phone by scanning a QR code. This is displayed at both the entrance and exit of the wash and we can also provide a business card with the QR code to scan at your convenience, again, the team appreciates the consideration.
Our Unlimited Memberships continue to be the best value we offer by just washing more than twice in a month.
We also offer Family Plans that provide discounted pricing for additional vehicles. Family Plan vehicles must be on the same wash level and billed to the same credit or debit card on file.
For customers looking for additional savings, we’re currently exploring:
-Seasonal digital wash book promotions
-Rewards programs for single-wash purchases (Wash Me! Club launching soon)
-Loyalty rewards for unlimited members
One area that can often goes unnoticed is the amount of continuous reinvestment that happens behind the scenes.
Over the years, we’ve made numerous upgrades to improve customer experience, wash quality & improve the overall vehicle appearance at a great value. Some are highly visible, such as Ceramic and Graphene protection applications, Spot-Free Rinse technology, upgraded equipment/signs, and enhanced wash packages. Others happen behind the scenes through equipment maintenance, water quality improvements, site repairs, technology upgrades, and investments in our team and facilities. These enhancements sometimes impact our operation and thus force us to close and sometimes during times we don’t control. but please note, we don’t make these decisions lightly.
Like every business & like you our customers, we’ve been face rising costs and pressure, be it labor, utilities, chemicals, insurance, maintenance, and supplies etc. Our goal is to balance those costs with meaningful improvements while maintaining the best value possible with a high level of personal customer service – Happy or We Wash it Again!
Rather than continuously raising prices like our corporate competitors, we focus on reinvesting, improving our processes, and adding value so when prices do change, our customers can see and feel the difference. We appreciate your continued loyalty and support, which allows us to continue this approach and support the Medina community we proudly serve, it’s more than just washing cars!
